Thymulin is a zinc-dependent thymic nonapeptide (originally isolated as serum thymic factor) that requires equimolar zinc to be biologically active and helps regulate T-cell differentiation, with additional anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects reported in animal models. The evidence base is almost entirely preclinical: rodent studies support immunomodulation and pain modulation, but there are essentially no controlled human efficacy trials for the injectable research form. It is sold as an immune-support research compound and appears in some topical hair formulations, and is distinct from the better-characterized thymic peptides Thymalin and Thymosin Alpha-1.
